summer in winter, winter in springtime

i spent the weekend wasting.
the time was passed so pleasantly.

okay, so it really wasn't wasting. friday after work, some friends and i headed up to Camp Maplehurst for the weekend.

friday night involved a whole lot of fire and some old docks. cooking hoodies to smell like campfire is not an easy task. (demeter, why haven't you done 'camp fire' yet? i suppose fireplace + dirt might suffice, but pleeeeaassseee?????)

saturday morning, bright and early, finds a quick trail ride (viva la bicicletta!) followed by a nice gut-bomb breakfast some greasy spoon. "... if you want fast, go to detroit ..." then an amazing, slightly foul-weather, adventure sailing on torch lake. FUN! omg. fun. it really is right up there with two wheeled motion. follow that up with a rousing game of pinecone and some kayaking and yer ready for a nap.

saturday night finds us with more burning docks, some fairly consistent rain, and swimming. and ufos. well, ulpos... (flying -> light producing). this does not good for the cooking of hoodies as i am forced to wash/dry to poor thing when i get home.

sunday morning = more kayaking, "how old is this milk?" and cleaning up from the night before (amazing that several hotdogs survived the conflagration that was the burning of the docks). a ride on a pontoon boat and swimming in the amazingly turquoise torch lake followed by an attempt to get lunch at "the dockside" made sunday end quicker that it really wanted to.

and much like most of the way up to camp, i slept the majority of the way back too.

and now, back to work.
