slowly returning to "normal"
although, i'm not too sure what "normal" is going to be now.
1) it's crazy to wake up and have your roommate tell you that a couple of airliners have smashed in to the world trade center.
2) it's crazier to sit in your living room, listening to the madness unfold via a)public radio, b)email/internet, c)your roommate's cell phone.
3) it's nice to finally hear from your friends in NYC to make sure that they're alright (via email even... i love technology).
4) it's crazy to be freaked out from hearing airplanes overhead.
5) it sucks not being able to sleep at night because you get caught up thinking about last moments in doomed airplanes.
6) it totally sucks watching/listening to everything unfold and not being able to do anything other than schedule blood donation appoinments.
7) but it's nice to remember that i'm not paul and that i can't save the universe. and that, instead, i should be more active in the communities i align myself with. (it's that whole "not living with one foot out the door" thing i keep coming back to).
and finally) it's nice to be @ work, slogging through poorly written perl code, making things beautiful (at least in this newbie's eyes) and not being a completely agitated basket case staring at the wall.
