work and time
this week at work, i've mostly been doing project management type stuff. talking with people about projects. writing documents. making project plans. talking with people more.
and the week seems like it's gone by really fast.
which, normally, is nice because that means i must be having fun. but i'm not so sure that is the case. i didn't think that i'd ever really like doing project management stuff. mostly i find design/programming to be sexier than writing docs and talking with people.
so does this mean i actually like this stuff now? maybe it's just because it feels like i'm actually getting stuff done. and a little structure does me good. (as last year's performance sans structure was pretty dismal) i guess it's still to early in the game to say how this will all work out. maybe it's the variation from project mgmt stuff and then going into actual development type stuff.
along similar lines... now that i've settled in to a roughly 9 - 6 type work schedule, and now that i'm doing less sexy computer mucking @ work, i find that i want to be doing more futzing at home again.
the problem is that, once i come home from work, i've already been staring at a monitor for long enough. not that this doesn't stop me from playing video games or surfing/IMing, but by the time i've decompressed sufficiently from work (where decompression -> turning brain off for a bit) it's already late. well, reasonably late enough that if i actually starting futzing with stuff (mp3 streaming, or playing with personal blogging tools) i'd be up all night.
and that would be fine if i didn't have to work the next day.
so now i'm trying to fit in some fun futzing during work hours (shhhhhh) so i can do all the other things i need to do at home (like paying bills, and writing proper letters to my friends (yes you my poop leaving ex-roommate))
currently in rotation: sigur ros, the sewing terrorists, fugazi, ida, ilium, dianogah
