my how time flies when you're having fun
so, me and these kids i've been playing with (as of tonight) have only gotten together 4 times. yet it seems like we've been playing much longer than that. that feeling contributes to a couple things:
o me thinking i should have more of my shit together. at least in regard to coming up with parts, song modifications, transitions, etc... when really, it's been ages since i've sat behind a kit, and even more ages since i've been requied to be creative behind one (as opposed to just being fed parts from sheet music or otherwise). so, in reality, i'm not doing so bad.
o the group being able to relax and just play stuff. we've come up with new material pretty quickly, and are starting to work these various ideas into full blown songs as far as i know, we have yet to rely on re-hashing anyone's old material.
i think it helps that everyone gets along really well. we each own up to fucking up in parts of songs and having to start over. we each are able to have fun and give each other shit when we screw up (and knowing that it's all shit in good fun). and so far, everyone's been really respectful about the material being played, and sharing ideas while being mindful of the intent of the song writer. but then again, this idea is only based on 4 days worth of data.
suffice it to say, i'm still really stoked about this adventure. it has the potential to take over biking as a primary hobby. don't get me wrong, i love my bike and still plan on going on epic rides, but now that i've got a musical outlet, priorities are shifting.
nngh-cha nngh-cha. yeah.
